Course Objectives

The objectives of the course are to help individuals understand the principles and terminology of Prince2. Specifically delegates will learn to:
  • Describe the purpose and major content of all roles, the eight components, the eight processes and techniques.
  • State which management products are input to, output from and updated in the eight processes and sub-processes of Controlling a Stage and Managing Product delivery.
  • State the main purpose, and key contents, of the major management products.
  • State the relationships between processes, deliverables, roles and the management dimensions of a project.

Course Outline

Background

Projects bring together resources, skills, technology and ideas to achieve business objectives.  Using a structured project management method such as PRINCE2™ helps an organisation to ensure that these objectives are delivered to an appropriate level of quality and within the constraints of time and cost.  It is also an essential element in managing the risks inherent in change and innovation.  PRINCE2™ is used extensively throughout the public sector in the UK and is also widely recognised and used commercially in the UK and abroad.  The method can be applied to all kinds of project including information systems projects. 


Course Description


The event covers the processes, components and techniques included in the PRINCE2™ Project Management Method. The course prepares delegates for the Association of Project Management Group (APMG) Foundation exam (included in the course).


The course lasts for 2 days and includes the following:

The event is recommended for team leaders, project assurance and project support staff who are responsible for managing/supporting projects using PRINCE2™. The course is suitable for all staff working on any type of project. Previous experience of PRINCE2™ is not necessary.

Prerequisites


There are no prerequisites other than an awareness of project work. 

Examination and Certification


The Foundation examination is a one-hour multiple-choice paper. All successful delegates will receive the PRINCE2™ Foundation certificate from the APMG.

Pre-course study

Pre-course Reading
To effectively prepare for the PRINCE2™ Foundation Course, delegates should be prepared to undertake a minimum of 8 – 10 hours pre-course reading.

Delegates should also utilise the PRINCE2™ on-line E-Learning module which also contains sample Foundation questions and answers.

There will be 1 – 2 hours of evening work set by the tutor each day.
