Course Outline

Overview

Projects bring together resources, skills, technology and ideas to deliver business benefits or to achieve business objectives. Good project management helps to ensure that these benefits and objectives are delivered to an appropriate level of quality and within the constraints of time and cost. It is also an essential element in managing the risks inherent in change and innovation. PRINCE2™ is a comprehensive, structured project management method used extensively by the UK government. It is also widely recognised and used by the private sector, both in the UK and internationally. The method can be applied to all kinds of project including information systems projects.

The aim of the course is to take project managers and project team members who hold the foundation certificate in PRINCE2™ and now require to upgrade this qualification by becoming a licenced PRINCE2™ Practitioner.

Course Format
Delegates will prepare for the Practitioner exam with intense revision, exam technique advice and mock exam practice with the Practitioner exam taken on the final day. The Practitioner exam is a 3 hour, objective testing (multiple choice) style exam. It is an “open-book” exam but only the PRINCE2™ Manual is allowed.

Who is the Course For?
Delegates must’ve successfully passed the PRINCE2™ Foundation exam to be eligible to sit the Practitioner exam. There are no other specific prerequisites other than an awareness of project work. This course is suitable for any individual wishing to understand and learn about PRINCE2™ in order to be able to apply it to projects in the workplace. Ideally delegates will have experience in managing projects or working in a project environment.

Course Objectives
The objectives of this course are to teach delegates to apply their PRINCE2™ knowledge to project scenarios, specifically so that they can:
• Apply and tune the roles, components, processes and the techniques to differing project scenarios.
• Produce and review management products and relate them to the sub-processes and techniques
• Describe the relationships between processes, deliverables, roles and the management dimensions of a project.
