Course: PRINCE2 Practitioner
Course Summary
This is an examination-based PRINCE2 training course, which gives delegates accreditation at PRINCE2 Practitioner level and equips them to implement what they've learnt in the workplace. The training will provide delegates with detailed knowledge of the method, taking in the following key areas - Business Case, Initiation, Managing Stage Boundaries and Project Delivery as well as the issues surrounding Project Completion and dealing with the Project Board. The training is an interactive experience using real world examples facilitated by trainers with extensive project management experience.

Course Outline
The training course combines PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner training sessions, the Practitioner training sessions will follow on from the successful completion of the Foundation exam, building on a delegate’s knowledge of the structure and content of PRINCE2 and turns this knowledge into an understanding of the practical application of the method. Time will be given to assessing risks within the project, planning techniques, and how to ensure a quality approach runs throughout the project.

- Defining a project and its constituent parts

Process Model
An overview of the 8 processes within PRINCE2, and how they are used throughout the lifecycle of the project
- Starting Up A Project – developing the definition of the project from the project mandate; creating an outline business case; identifying the quality expectations of the customer.
- Initiating A Project – identifying all the products that the project will produce, planning the project in detail and setting up controls and administration
- Directing A Project – authorisation of all project and stage plans and decisions on handling issues and exceptions
- Controlling A Stage – activities for day to day management of the project
- Managing Product Delivery – product creation, quality reviews of products and reporting to the Project Manager on progress
- Managing Stage Boundaries – creation of all stage and exception plans
- Closing A Project – controlled closure of a project so that all deliverables attain formal customer sign off, and all outstanding issues are captured for future reference

Components
Identifying each of the components of a PRINCE2 project, and how each component supports Project Management, Risk Management and Quality Management
- Business Case – an approach to the development of the business case
- Organisation – establishing an effective organisation structure for the project
- Plans – these are the backbone of any management information system of a project and should comprehensively identify products, activities and required resources.
- Controls – establishing the decision making framework that will operate across the project organisation structure
- Management of risk – identifying and controlling risks so that the project is kept on track and will conclude successfully
- Quality in a project environment – defining quality management and the elements that it comprises
- Configuration Management – managing the assets of the project
- Change Control – capture, log and manage all requested changes.
