APMP

A knowledge based qualification enabling participation in projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects – for those who have worked in a project environment for up to 2 years.

The APMP qualification provides evidence of a thorough understanding of project management. Based upon the APM’s Body of Knowledge, it spans all the techniques required to plan, control and implement successful projects. APMP holders will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how all elements of project management interact and how their project fits into their strategic and commercial environment.

APM consider this their “Foundation” level qualification so no longer use the original “APM Practitioner” title.  It equates to IPMA Level D and as such is recognised worldwide.

Exams

The APMP assessment involves one three hour written essay-based paper.  Candidates answer 10 of 16 questions.

APMP assesses the candidate’s breadth of knowledge in all areas of project management, from strategic and commercial implications, to the technical, organisational, and people management skills required to participate effectively within a project team. The APM Body of Knowledge 5th Edition forms the source materials for the examination.

Pre-Requisites

You should have at least 3 months project management experience or have attended an introductory project management course. Candidates are required to submit an application form and self-assessment form to the APM prior to the examination.

Courses

APM accredited training is readily available in the form of a five day course. Some courses, but not all, will be inclusive of the exam on the final day. Some courses also include the APM Introductory Certificate multiple choice exam.
