Target Audience

This course is intended for people working in a project environment who need to understand their role in projects and the techniques and the terminology of project management.

Learning Objectives

This course teaches delegates how to identify the project objective, how to break down the work into small tasks, and how to estimate and schedule the work involved. Delegates will learn techniques to monitor and control the progress (or lack thereof) of their projects.

  • Recognise when a project organisation is appropriate
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the success factors associated with a project
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the quality requirements and the relevance of ISO9000 standards to projects
  • Schedule tasks and incorporate risk analysis and contingency planning into their projects
  • Define an administrative framework to allow them to control their projects and manage deadlines

Course Summary

The course recognises the critical importance of the people on the project team to the success or failure of the project. The participants will review the importance of people to a project and their own approach to team management. They will learn team building and people motivation techniques.

This an interactive course with a great deal of participation required from the participants. Case study sessions are undertaken during each module where delegates are expected to review the relevancy of the case to a project of their own. Alternatively, the delegates' own projects can be used as the specific case studies for these sessions. In addition, a major case study is used in days two and three of the course to reinforce the concepts being discussed.
