Advanced PRINCE2 Management
Target Audience
Programme and project managers, Project Support Office managers and staff who are involved in projects using the Prince® management method. This course is a useful follow on course to people who have previously undergone Prince Practitioner training.
Learning Objectives
To provide project staff with advanced project management skills that can be applied in a practical way to ensure that projects are run in a more effective and efficient way delivering added value to the business.
This course will enable you to:
- Write best practice Project Initiation Documents , the project ‘contract’
- Develop effective management by exception environments concentrating on effective project communications
- Apply advanced techniques including financial control, sensitivity analysis, trend analysis and earned value management
- Implement quality concepts to the project environment including controls and continuous improvement
- Use strategic thinking when delivering the business capability
- Understand the business case, how to write and track benefits
Pre-Requisites
The course is designed for experienced project managers who have an understanding of project management techniques and the PRINCE2™ method.
Ideally delegates will a recognised project management qualification (PRINCE2™®, ISEB, APM, PMI or academic).
Other delegates will be considered if they satisfy the course manager of their experience.

Course Summary
PRINCE2™ is the de-facto project management method used by many of today’s leading companies. If you’re a project manager with any experience then the chances are that you will have come across a project that pays lip service to the fundamentals. You will have realised that to get the most from PRINCE2™ requires a clear understanding of the key drivers, the essential controls and the components.
This course looks at the main drivers in PRINCE2™ to enable an effective framework to be applied. It includes developing skills in writing effective Project Initiation Documents and aspects of the business case including defining, tracking and measuring benefits.
Included are advanced techniques covering aspects of control including financial, progress, risk and quality. Delegates will come away with the knowledge and the practical ability to ensure their projects really are run in a ‘controlled environment’.
