The course is aimed at those new to PPSO work and is Project and Programme method independent. The content of the course draws on a wide body of knowledge and recognised best practice in Project and Programme Management

Learning Objectives

The objectives of the course are to provide the Programme and Project Support Professional with comprehensive training in the tools and techniques, processes and supporting infrastructure that need to be developed to provide effective programme and project support, with ISEB accreditation

Course Structure

·    3 day Course
·    Course runs 9am – 5:30pm with a break for lunch
·    Closed Book, 1 hour multiple choice examination
·    Delegates are encouraged to network and share their experiences

·    The role of PSO – The 5 types of support the PSO can provide the organisation
·    Programme and Project Management Organisation Structures – Why they are needed, what they provide and the roles and responsibilities
·    The reason for and contents of programme and project control documents
·    Programme and project planning
·    Planning techniques and how they are used
·    Project or system development Lifecycles – How they are developed and how to maintain and use them to the maximum effect
·    The infrastructure needed to support programmes and projects – Templates, Standards, Data Dictionary, Deliverable Libraries, etc.
·    Resource and Task Categories – Why they are needed and how to develop and maintain them
·    Developing a Business Case – The different types of Business Cases and how to support their developments
·    Issue, and Change Control Processes – The reasons for these processes, how to design and operate them efficiently and effectively
·    Risk Assessment and Management – The different types of risk assessments and management processes and how they are used
·    Quality Control Review – Why they are needed and how to prepare and support them
·    The course uses a number of concepts and terms from the OGC’s PRINCE2™ and Managing Successful Programmes frameworks
