What PRINCE2 qualifications are there ?

There are 2 qualifications

  1. PRINCE2 Foundation Certificate
    • A 3-day course which teaches the principles & terminology

  2. PRINCE2 Practitioner Certificate
    • Usually combined with the Foundation course to make a 5-day course
    • It teaches how to apply PRINCE2 in a project application
    • Suitable for those looking to run PRINCE2 projects

Are there any pre-requisites to take PRINCE2 training?

The only prerequisite you will need is a general background knowledge and experience of project management. In that way you will be able to relate the specific terms and stages of the PRINCE2™ methodology with your own personal experience

Can I take the PRINCE2 Practitioner training course over several weeks ?

Taking the PRINCE2™ course over 5 days is the most common format.

It is an intensive course which includes the PRINCE2™ Foundation exam taken on Day 3 and the PRINCE2™ Practitioner exam on Day 5
 
There are alternative routes

  • Take the 3-day Prince 2 Foundation course first and then a 2 or 3-day Prince 2 Practitioner upgrade (PRINCE 2 Conversion) after 4 or 6 weeks
  • Take a modular course - 1 to 2 days over 3 weeks

What is the structure of the PRINCE2 Examinations?

The Foundation examination is a 1 hour long, 75 question, multiple choice paper. Once this examination has been taken and passed you may then take the Practitioner examination to become a Registered Practitioner. This is a 3 hour long examination with 3 case scenario based questions. There are a total of 150 marks on offer and you must score 75 to pass. This examination is open-book which means you are allowed to bring into the examination room any notes or reference material you wish.

Can I take the PRINCE2 exams without taking a PRINCE2 Training Course ?

 Yes, you can study for the PRINCE 2 manual or through a distance learning courses and public exams are run in Milton Keynes, York and Winsford on a monthly basis. The only book that is essential is the PRINCE2 Manual (Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2) which is supplied with your training course (usually as part of the pre-course study pack)

Where can I get sample PRINCE2 course exam papers?

Sample papers are not available for general use, but if you book onto an Open Centre Examination you will be sent the latest set of sample papers on receipt of payment. If you are taking the exam(s) through a training provider, they will be able to provide you with sample papers directly.

How long will it take to get the result of my PRINCE 2 Exam ?

Result turn-around time for the Practitioner exam is roughly 12 weeks and confirmation of your Foundation exam result within 2 weeks.
