ISEB

ISEB qualifications go beyond ITIL in providing vendor independent and practical measures of competence and ability in many areas of Information Services. There are four broad topic areas:

- IT Infrastructure, Assets and Services
(integrates with ITIL where ISEB is a leading Examination Institute)
- Projects and Business Change
(practical linkage of IT/IS to the needs and drivers of the business)
- Solution Development and Delivery
(includes software development and testing)
- Legal, Compliance and Security
(neglected disciplines which urgently need a structured approach)

Within each area, ISEB offers Foundation, Practitioner and Higher Level qualifications.  The Higher Level Qualifications comprise Diplomas and Management Certificates which are aimed at Specialists and Managers; they require a cross section of modular components which demonstrate breadth (as well as depth) of understanding.

The most popular element of the Solution Development and Delivery category is software testing.  The ISEB has been heavily involved in development of internationally recognised qualifications in this area and the ISEB Foundation Certificate directly aligns with the ISTQB qualification.
